How is Atol Licensed?
-
What is Atol ?
- Atol is a free dual panel file manager program. It is published as open
source and licensed under the BSD license. The program
is written in portable C++ and is currently compiled on Windows and Linux
operating systems.
-
-
At the moment, Atol is compiled on MS Windows (32bit versions) and Gnome.
A port to Mac OS X is planned.
-
How do I install Atol?
-
Just unpack the archive and start the program. Windows binaries might
require additional Microsoft DLL's. They are available here. After
download just
unpack DLL's either into your program directory or into the
system directory (usually c:windowssystem32).

Can I help with the project?
-
Sure!! Post a message to our forums or
send us an email that you would like to help.
-
-
Either post it in our message
board or send us an e-mail.
To post on the message board is the preferred method, because
this allows other users to add their experiences with that error, which
helps us
to identify the problem. Please test the newest version of Atol
before reporting a bug.
Please remember to add the following information to your bug report:
- The version number of Atol with which you had the problem.
(Click on About in the Help-Menu to get this information)
- Your operating system and window manager
For example, Windows XP Home SP1 or Linux Kernel 2.4 with Xfree
4.2 and GNOME 2.1
- Information about your hardware
For example, AMD Athlon XP 2400 with 192 MB RAM and Asus Mainboard
with VIA Chipset.
- The description of the problem itself, of course. Please be
as specific as possible. For example, it might be important
to know that you tried to copy from a folder whose name contained
entities. Try several times and see if the result is always
the same. (Of course, do not test on important data!)
- Entire text of the error message (if there was any)
- Any additional information you consider important
For example, that you defragmented your hard drive when the
error happened or that another program was running or your
friend had the same problem
when he tried this and that...
